How long should the IOS 6.1 update take. The apple and a second vertical line are just sitting on the screen.

5:10 AM Apple, Screen, second, should, sitting, update, vertical No comments

Got a message the IOS 6.1 date was available. Touched install. Screen went black for a split second, vertical line appeared with apple icon next to it. The line filled pretty quickly then a second line appeared which we have been staring at. How long is this supposed to take?
